You can support the ESO by becoming a Friend - please download an application form here.

Support from the Friends is crucial to the success of our Orchestra courses. It enables us to keep the prices down and provide bursary places where there is a need. The Friends also support our concert in care homes programme and individual elements of the concerts proper – for example, extra rehearsal time for the English Music Festival concert, which features some rarely-performed works and a new commission by the Festival. Thus the Friends are crucial to the overall business of the ESO.

FRIENDS NEWS

The next Friends Event is on September 21st at 7:30pm. It will take place at St Wulstans church (where Elgar lies buried) and feature the ESO String Quartet. George Ewart has chosen the following programme (after a request from Friend Richard Wainwright):

Elgar String Quartet

Haydn String Quartet "The Lark"

Schubert String Quartet "Death and the Maiden"

Tickets are £15 (£14 Friends) and will be available from John Bibby and Jan Bowden 01684 576988 or ESO Box Office 01386 791044. Ticket includes a drink in the Church Hall during the interval. The Friends of the ESO AGM takes place on the same day, at 6pm in the same Hall.

This event is being organised by the Malvern Friends Group.

Marietta Lougee, a long-standing and true friend of the ESO, has stood down from our committee, although she will continue to continue to contribute to the Orchestra's Artistic Group.

Two new members have been welcomed on to the Friends Committee - Trudy Stirzaker and Colin Phillips.
